Short Wave Diathermy
Treatment of facial veins and Rosacea
Short wave diathermy is a targeted treatment used to reduce the appearance of small facial thread veins, broken capillaries and tiny red vascular blemishes. At Louise Evans Aesthetics, treatment is carried out with a careful, clinical approach to help soften visible redness while protecting the surrounding skin. What can short wave diathermy treat…. Short wave diathermy may be suitable for: Facial thread veins Broken capillaries Small red veins around the nose and cheeks Tiny spider naevi Small vascular blemishes Mild, localised facial redness caused by visible vessels A consultation is always required to assess your skin, confirm suitability and discuss realistic expectations. How does it work…. Short wave diathermy uses a very fine probe to deliver a controlled current to the visible vessel. This creates heat within the tiny vein, causing it to close down. Over time, the treated vessel is naturally broken down by the body and becomes less visible. The treatment is very precise, making it ideal for small, superficial facial veins. What happens during treatment…. Your appointment will include: A consultation and medical history Assessment of the area being treated Discussion of suitability, risks and aftercare Precise treatment of the visible veins using a fine probe Application of soothing aftercare if required Clear post-treatment advice You may feel a quick heat or stinging sensation during treatment, but appointments are usually short and well tolerated. When will I see results…. Some vessels may appear reduced immediately, while others fade gradually over the following days and weeks. The treated area may look red, slightly swollen or a little crusted afterwards, which is a normal part of healing. More than one session may be needed, depending on the number and size of vessels. Is there any downtime…. Downtime is usually minimal, but the skin may be temporarily red, sensitive or slightly marked after treatment. Aftercare may include: Avoiding heat, saunas and steam rooms for a short period Avoiding active skincare products until the skin has settled Not picking or scratching any tiny crusts Using SPF daily Avoiding sun exposure while the skin heals Keeping the area clean and protected Make-up may need to be avoided for a short period depending on the treated area and your skin response. Is short wave diathermy suitable for everyone…. This treatment is not suitable for everyone. It may not be appropriate if you have active infection, broken skin, certain skin conditions, a tendency to keloid scarring, uncontrolled diabetes, are pregnant, or have certain medical devices such as a pacemaker. A full consultation will confirm whether treatment is appropriate for you. Why choose Louise Evans Aesthetics…. Facial vein treatment requires precision, care and good clinical judgement. At Louise Evans Aesthetics, your treatment is carried out by a registered nurse prescriber in a calm, medically-led environment. The focus is always on safe, subtle improvement and honest advice about what can realistically be achieved.
